Day 17: Music
Back in the day, when I entered high school, I was going from a small private school, which had a whopping total of 12 students in the entire junior high, to a public high school with 2,000 students. I was a little nervous to say the least. My big brother suggested joining the marching band as a way to make friends. So, I picked up a saxophone for the first time in my life and made some honking noises. For 4 years. I never really got good at it, but I was super into marching band. So into it, that I tried out for the position of drum major (the person at the head of that band conducting). Turns out, you don’t have to be a musical whiz to be a high school drum major. While I NEVER had as much swag as the drum major I drew, being in the marching band gave me some of my best high school memories. .
