Behind the scenes…

This is part of a series of portraits I made in college. The goal of the series was to describe the subject’s personality rather than reproduce their likeness.

At the time, I wasn’t familiar with resin so I experimented with materials that were similar to it in an attempt to achieve a layered, translucent depth to my work. You can see in the detail images that the material trapped bubbles and ended up cracking without much success in creating physical depth. Despite that, this time of experimentation and learning was a thrill and I enjoyed sharing the sweetness of someone significant to me with people would not otherwise get to see that side of her.

P.S. That’s a veggie corn dog.
